For women who are troubled by galactorrhea, some nutritional changes may make a
difference. A 1976 study by E. McIntosh in J. Clin. Endocrin. Metab. found
that vitamin B6 alone could eliminate galactorrhea. Magnesium, vitamin E, and
flax oil may also be helpful; reducing caffeine and sugar intake is
recommended as well. Anecdotally, other natural family planning teachers have
reported success in reducing or eliminating galactorrhea with a vitamin
supplement called Optivite, which is unusually high in vitamin B6. (I have no
financial stake whatsoever in this product.) This information comes from a
book called _Fertility, Cycles and Nutrition_ by Marilyn Shannon. (I also have
no financial interest in this book.)
