I can't believe my eyes! A mom just called who has strep throat and her Dr. said to stop breastfeeding for a week because she could infect her baby (7mos), and because she will be on penicillin. So, I look up what Ruth Lawrence says and she says stop breastfeeding, pump and dump, and separate mom/baby 24 hrs. She does define the maternal illness in one section as "extensive cellutitis, necrotisizing fasciitis, myositis, pneumonia, TSS, mastitis", but in another section does not differentiate that and includes "pharyngitis" with the category of pump/dump. This mom bought goat's milk and has been pumping and dumping. What do you say?
