I have searched the archives & only found one reference to thyroid scan.
A mom called and her baby is 10 weeks old, totally breastfed. She is back
to work and pumping. On routine blood tests, she was told she needs a
thyroid uptake scan, not sure which iodine, but must not breastfeed for 4
weeks. If she needs treatment, was told may never, she called me to make
sure she is getting accurate info from the radiologist & medical dr. She
wanted to delay the test a few months, but her medical dr. advised her not
todo that. She asked about getting a second opinion, I agreed that is a
viable option. Any of you have any experience with this test. I told her
it would be worthwhile to pump if the illness does not prove to be so. She
Has breastfed her first child a year, he is 18 yrs old., and wants to give
thhis baby daughter as much nursing as possible. TIA if you have any help.
The test is this week, so please e-mail me ASAP.
