Dear Jane and Janice,
Thrush could be a sign of diabetes in the mother, but highly
unlikely in the baby. If it is so uncommon, why did a mother of a 7 month
old with thrush call me tonight? I asked if there is a older brother or
sister with a pacifier in the picture and there is. The 2 year old sister
goes to the church nursery with pacy and the baby puts it in his mouth. The
thrush was precipitated by antibiotics for an ear infection. Mom called me
to ask about prescription for Diflucan for baby. It's probably in the
archives, but it is my understanding that thrush is becoming resistant to
Nystatin and Gentian violet. Some updated information would be good to give
the doctor.
