Gary and Marie have two adult children whom i have heard they said we not
totally parented this way. As for the self esteem issues you will have to
ask them.

Why do people like this program- 1. they get pat answers. 2) they do not
have discerning minds and throw out the bad stuff.3. It is supposed to be
predictible (is anything- life really?!!) Children fit into the day timer>
4. their spritual lives are to where the parents do not have to or want to
search the scriptures and their hearts. they are either too busy or too lazy
to do that.
caveat there are some whom i know that will do the study, throw out the bad,
and know life is not predictable. Some do well some do not.

There are other programs out there.  Not specifically a parenting program,
but Apple Tree Family Ministries has a wonderful birth and early parenting
series of books and classes. But all of our classes and outlines have to be
approved, the training is long and rigourous and an intensive workshop must
be taken with them ( kathy nesper, Lynn Johnson) to practifce , pray and to
get some counselling and teaching experience.  I was fortunate enough to
have my intensive them and Helen Wessel the author of the series at Helen"s
home and with her. She passed away the next spring.

Then Bill and Martha Sears will be coming out, This month I think, with a
Christian based Parenting Curriculum. It will be published through Broadman
Press, and distributed through LIFEWAY Bookstores ( formerly Baptist
Bookstores).  I cannot wait to get my copy.  Martha if you are lurking you
feel free to correct this info ok.
