I'd like to add my 2 cents here, just having retaken the exam at year 5,
I am very  glad that I did so for several reasons.
        1. I met many people I intend to keep in touch with.
        2. The test covered some ground that my cont. ed. did not cover.
        3. It will help me be far less apprehensive when I "have to"    retake it
at 10 yrs, because it was a much better test than it    was 5 years ago.
Those slides from yrs ago were really   difficult to understand, but the
photos in the test booklet were         terrific.
        4. I don't have my results back yet of course, but the exam     appeared
to be far easier this time around.

Question: I should know this, but don't. Do we have a peer review
process by which LCs whose practice utilizes methods that are not based
on sound judgment can be censored? How do we protect the public from
poor practice? Can the exam be the only tool we have to try to deal with
this.  In particular, I am concerned about  a hospital based LC group in
a local hospital which routinely has new moms place grape jelly on their
nipples so that "the flavor will encourage the baby to latch on"
This is just one example out of many that cause me concern about this
group.  By what route should I pursue this issue, or should I pursue it
at all? I have  tried the direct approach with EXTREMELY negative
results, let's just say I was shocked by the vehemence the status quo
was defended with and the vicious way I was attacked for my  "negative
comments"
