Hello Lactnetters:
I am reposting this request because I just changed my email address.
I have recently heard that the limit on fenugreek per day is less
than 3000 mg, and never more due to toxicity, and elevated liver
enzymes.
The doctor saying this has given me no references. The handout we have
from the 1998 winter Medela newsletter on fenugreek says 2-3 capsules 3
times a day and specifies that capsules are usually 580-610 mg.
Obviously this dosage is much greater than 3000 mg. The women in
question was on 4000 mg per day and the doctor noticed elevated liver
enzymes, which returned to normal when the dosage went below 3000 mg.
Any comments, any one?
Jack? Tom? Anyone?
Thanks In Advance
