Paula asks: "Breastfeeding helps prevent asthma, diabetes, etc." What if I
wanted
to focus more on the dangers of formula, and instead say "Formula can
potentially cause (or promote the incidence of) asthma, diabetes, etc"?
Would this be inaccurate?"
When I teach my pregnancy classes I ask the moms to try looking at the
research from a different angle. "The research states that there are fewer
infections, hospitalizations, emergency room visits, less severe allergic
reactions etc. in babies that are breastfed. Since breastfeeding is the
original way to feed, the introduction of abm could be perceived to increase
infections, hospitalizations, emergency room visits, and increase severe
allergic reactions, etc."
