Severe engorgement like this usually resolves itself with some of the
self-help measures Janna outlines. They have to be given time to work,
though.
> She is putting the baby to breast every 2 hours
>until the baby self-detaches.
Might be better just to let the baby decide the timing of feeds.
> While baby is nursing from 1 breast she
>pumps the other for 10 minutes.
Why? I don't see why this would help, sorry.
>She then uses a dropper (per
>pediatrician) to give the baby EBM in addition to what the baby took
>from the breast.
Again, why? Why does the baby need the EBM?
> I have a great scale and did test weighing which
>showed that in the course of one feed last evening the baby transferred
>1.1 ounces of milk.
Again, why test weigh? Why is this information useful at this time?
I'm genuinely curious!
