OK, this is a case in which a marketing strategy has replaced science in the
minds of MDs. There has been at least one study that showed absolutely NO EFFECT
on colic or fussiness when babies were given Mylicon. So why do MDs suggest it?
Who are they getting free lunch from this month?

Susan

Subject: colic & drops

Does anyone else find too many pediatricians prescribing m------ drops for
crying babies instead of finding the real causes, such as insufficient
breastfeeding, not holding the baby enough, etc. I think it is used too
much & advertised too much in baby care magazines these days. Has this
been discussed before? I haven't seen it but haven't had much time to
follow everything in lactnet.

Sincerely,

Enjoying the last days of summer, just returned from Cape Cod, loved it
