One of the several points Laurie Wheeler raised in one of her postings ws having big-time back pain, possibly from helping Mums with breastfeeding.
One thing I found worked well for me, and which I used to mention when speaking to groups of health professionals, was using my knees, i.e. getting down on one or both knees. The suggetion always got an interested response. This was a great back saver, and worked when assisting a mother sitting in a comfortable, fairly low chair. Pity it doesn't work for me now, with arthritic knees! - but this idea might help some of you.
