Dear Lactnetter,
A "mature" breastfeeding client wants to get pregnant. She is not
menstruating (and presumably not ovulating). Child is nine months and
nursing 4-5 times a day and has been on solids for almost three months,
substituting milk-based formula if mother is going out.
I persuaded her to rethink weaning however she asks:
Are there any good books on the hormonal changes that occur during
breastfeeding and how to get pregnant, even if I continue to breastfeed???
Please reply directly to me as I am in "summer delete" mode quite a lot right
now.
Thank you very much!
Sigrid Nelsson-Ryan, RN, CD, FACCE, CLC (and anxiously awaiting test result
from July 26!)
