Holy - - - - , You mean there are still babies being tortured in this
way...kept NPO pre-circ? I am absolutely astounded. NPO status for surgery
is related to general anesthesia...period. I no of no hospital giving
generals for circs. There should be no NPO status...and that is how we do
it here. Never a problem.
I encourage a breastfeed immediately before circ and again after..to
compensate for the fact that lots of babies will go down and sleep for a
while, and not feed well for hours after the circ.
I reccomend you get anesthesia on your side with this one. Certainly, there
is someone in the department there that knows why surgery patients are made
NPO.
