Phyliis Diller b. 1917 is quoted as saying,
"Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the
walk before it stops snowing. "
And the same book quotes Barbara Bush, b. 1925 as saying,
"The darn trouble with cleaning the house is it gets dirty the next day
anyway, so skip a week if you have to. The children are the most important
thing."
My fav is from Dorothy Evslin, b. 1923 (Am writer)
"It will be gone before you know it. The fingerprints on the wall appear
higher and higher. Then suddenly they disappear."
My fav, not on housework, but on Motherhood:
".........it is still the biggest gamble in the world. It is the glorious
life force. It's huge and scary-it's an act of infinite optimism."
Gilda Radner (1946-1989)
