Maybe she meant laryngomalacia - a condition in which part of the cartilage
of the larynx is softened and 'collapses' a little with inspiration. I think
it is a temporary condition, but haven't got any references here (my books
are at work, and the computer is at home!). I have seen similar problems
with a child who was later diagnosed with having a congenital form of
myasthenia gravis (very rare I'm told). Hope this helps
