Here's my opinion, and it's *only* that:

I think this sounds like a risky combination of drugs in terms of BFing
(potential sedation, including resp. sedation, of baby), and if this were,
for example, my sister or friend I would say: #1 discuss with the doctor(s)
whether it is this the only this set of drugs that s/he thinks will do the
trick, or if there might be others that are safer and #2, if the haloperidol
and chlorpromethazine *are* necessary, she probably shouldn't BF while
taking them.

On closer reading, I see that she has already decided to stop BFing & wants
to deal w/engorgement. Engorgement will be exacerbated by both the haldol &
the chlorpromazine, so you'll need to pull out your best stuff to help her.
And maybe just as well - this is a case where I wouldn't try to talk her
into or out of anything!

I know that this isn't what we usually say here, but my opinion is that if
this mom has already tried to commit suicide, her treatment supercedes
BFing. If meds can be managed to facilitate both, all the better, but
clearly she needs serious treatment. These aren't antidepressants, by the
way - more like antipsychotics, a very different matter.

IMNSHO only.
