On a related note (since nurses are often the ones giving postpartum care to
new bf moms)...did anyone see the NYTimes article yesterday about California
fighting tooth and nail to get a law legislating nurse/patient ratios?
Apparently the health care folks did not want such a law ( of course
not)....they want it to be a system where they can squeeze every drop of
blood out of the nursing staff....but through persistence, this was passed
recently.
They complain it will cost too much, etc. I have an idea. How about cutting
out the middle man ( who doesn't do anything but push papers, the HMO desk
cowboys) and start paying the people who DO THE WORK ( nurses, LCs..etc, MDs).?
Innovation, from your sarcastic listowner.
