I used to work for a large HMO and many of our jaundiced babies were sent
home w/ bili lights. I don't know what the criteria was for sending them
home but a home health nurse would go by the house every day for a ck. up and
to draw lab. Sometimes, the parents would bring the baby to the urgent care
lab. for a bili draw. Seemed to work pretty good. The visiting nurse would
weigh the baby, assess for stools/voids, nursing, and mom's milk supply. I
am pretty sure this was for full term, healthy babies only.
