Heard a really wonderful talk on maternal nutrition and lactation by an RD
who is also a bf mom last week. One of the provocative things she
mentioned about depression in general was that since Americans are by far
and away the most depressed folks, and since most Americans are also
dietarily deficient in Omega 3, there are some research projects going on
to see if there is a connection.
Since Omega 3s are part of a healthy eating plan, perhaps asking a mom who
seems to be heading for PPD to check with her healthcare provider about
adding these to her diet wouldn't come amiss.
Would love to hear what any of the rest of y'all have heard/think about
this.
