Greetings Friends,
I checked with a friend, who is a pediatric dentist. He does many cleft
lip/palate repairs. I sent him a copy of the question re: post of feeding.
He responded with the following. I guess I will enlighten him about cup
feedings!
Roni Chastain, RN, LCCE, FACCE
Long Island, New York
"There is absolutely no contra-indications to breast or bottle feeding after
about the 3rd day post-op. During the immediate post-op period the babies are
generally maintained intra-venously. What 9 week old baby can drink from a
cup anyway?
I would be concerned about any surgeon who is so inflexible and seek a second
opinion."
