From Aug. 7 issue of British Medical Journal: "Influence of Maternal
Nutrition on Infant Health Not Clinically Important".
Read that title and though "YIKES!". What the study actually found is
"Maternal nutrition has only a marginal impact on pregnancy outcome in
healthy women from industrialized countries". Study done in UK, on women
with "a wide range of dietary intakes, not just well-nourished women".
Preferential utilization of available nutrients by fetus if intakes are
low - so it's the impact of diet onthe *baby* that's examined here, not on
the mother.
