there are many instances when a pacifier can be useful.
when talking to parents about pacifiers, after i give my speech about all the
possible difficulties and challenges for the *newborn* i say something like
"so the moral of the story is....... be cautious, delay and/or minimize use,
make sure the baby is feeding and gaining weight well.............."
