Where I come from standard practice requires that circumcisions are done on
the 3rd day. This is to allow the infant to adapt to extra-uterine life as
well as to allow for a period of observation before non-life threatening
interventions. One of the main reasons cited was the related risk of
complications of neonatal jaundice, should that occur.

Would be very interested ot know what breastfeeding research has to say
about this issue.
