Patricia,
I just this am gave a desperate mom of a 20 month old high needs boy who
also has a 5 yr boy and 3 month girl the title of an excellent book on
this subject. "Raising your Spirited Child" by Mary Sheedy Kurcinka
I bought this book for myself at the suggestion of a child psychologist
who works frequently with the families of these high maintenance kids.
I prefer it to many others on the topic because it is written in a very
positive manner as opposed to others like "Your Difficult Child"
It was tremendously helpful to me. Focusing on my expectations and
actions have been my goals, because I certainly can't and don't want to
change my son's temperment, just help him channel all of those
characteristics into positive and productive avenues.
