Working with a mom who cannot produce enough milk. Hardly even any breast
fullness. Baby has great latch-on and suck, but is at the breast all the
time, frusterated and losing weight. Dr. has put her on Reglan. She is using
SNS for the last week. Baby is 2 weeks old. No history of breast reduction,
etc. Mom is an MD and has it in her head that she can't feed this baby unless
she has medication or devices to do it. She came to me yesterday at the end
of her rope. Baby was 8,2 at birth, 7,6 when they left the hospital after
c-sect. At 1 week baby was still 7,6. They did a marathon to nurse and
weighed in the next day at 7,3. Then immediately began SNS with formula.
After a week of SNS, baby is 7,11 (yesterday) but won't nurse without the
tube. Would this be considered a dramatic weight loss?
Any ideas?
