this is gerri shames, from israel. i had a mom call me this morning telling
me that she is overflowing with milk, but the baby is sucking listlessly. i
asked if she had an epidural at birth, and when she sais yes i told her that
that was probably the reason. was i correct? (the baby is 2 weeks old).
as an aside- she told me that since he wasn't sucking well she is
supplemnting with formula!!! i asked her if she thought that a cow was able
to feed her baby better than her. she didn't get my drift till i offered
that it would be much prefered if she felt that the baby needed to be
suplemented after bf that she should do so with her OWN expressed milk. she
was shocked and thrilled at the thought. just goes to show that you can't
take anything for granted!
also, thanks so much to all who answered my plea for help with hand/mouth
references. i'm sure that once my bf seminar goes under way  i'll have a LOT
more questions. nice to know that there is always someone out there i can
turn to.
