"I (MHO) think our obession with food, eating and amounts begins with
>formula/jar baby food feeding and it's measurements, and scheduling."
I agree. I also thought you would like to hear the rather interesting bias
of a nutritionist I once knew. We were dealing with a tiny one year old,
who had been gradually falling off her growth curve since age 2 months. Her
mother was a committed breastfeeding mom, and this was her second child. No
inappropriate or very early solids, but the kids was really particular and
nursed all the time. The nutritionist said she felt breastfeeding was the
culprit--"You know, these kids who just nurse 14-15 times a day and most of
the night just never eat well."
By the way, the kid was later diagnosed with an inborn error of metabolism.
