Hello Lactnuts,

A mother has come to me concerned about the appearance and consistancy
of her breastmilk. I've not come across such a situation and would
greatly appreciate your help!

Mom delivered at 26 weeks gestation, baby is 2.7lbs and doing well in
the NICU. Baby is now 4 days old. Mom's milk is coming in and off and
on it is "spinach green/grey" with a this consistancy that looks "like
snot" (pardon us). Mom has been taking magnesium and "muscle relaxants"
while on bedrest. I hope is isn't an issue, but there is a history of
breast cancer on the maternal side. Both breast are producing this
interesting milk. I'm stumped!

Thanks to anyone with reassuring information.
