If this "misshapen baby" thing were true, I have a hunch that lactnuts would
have a hugely disproportionate number of deformed babies.
The misinformation out there with nurses is scary. I was at a hospital this
week (private, cushy...very different from the teaching hospital where I also
work). The nurse I was with was conducting an intake assessment on a patient.
She asked about previous surgery. The only one the patient had was a breast
augmentation. The nurse looked at her and said "You realize that you probably
won't be able to breastfeed, don't you?". I was shocked. I quietly told the
mother that she should certainly initiate BF as soon as possible after delivery
and to ask for an LC to visit here when she was on PP.
