As a nurse-type, I was glad I was not the only one very uncomfortable
with the abbreviation "bm" for breast milk. (However, I'm with you, Pat,
on ABM for "artificial baby milk")

(Still a little confusing though with the use of ABM for the Academy of
Breastfeeding Medicine.)

I try (with little success) to make my WIC notes succinct with a few
abbreviations. But then I succumb to the fantasy that if my notes are a
little more complete, the staff nutritionists might occasionally read
them at nutrition ed visits, and pick up a few more insights.

I feel a little "iffy" about CS for craniosacral, when we are all much
more familiar with it here in the US as an abbreviation for Caesarian
Section.

The story about the assertive mother of triplets and the reluctant
neonatologist brings to mind: BYOB (usually meaning "Bring your own
Booze, or Bottle" to the party.) This mom means to BMOB (Bring mom's own
breasts) and the neonatologist is saying "NIMBY"
(Not In My Back Yard!)

 Well, Gentlemen and Ladies, that's one more example of diversity for
you. Get used to it!
