Do everything you can to move what chin there is into the breast.
This means use football or cross cradle and support the baby by the
shoulders and neck not the crown of the head. Aim for an asymmetric
latch (nipple in upper aspect of the baby's mouth) by tickling with the
nipple from the nose to the upper lip, when the baby opens wide and
lifts mouth upward toward the nipple, drop the nipple in and lift the
baby up and over. Use nipple sandwich technique being sure to sandwich
the breast from nose to chin (the way the baby would open mouth). Use
the thumb part of the sandwich to shove a bit more in as baby is lifting
up and over. Pillows and rolled up blankets to position baby and
gravity (baby looking down at breast once latch is achieved by mom
slouching slightly) are also helpful.
