I, too, have put moms and newborns in warm baths with just clear water when
nothing else works. It has worked several times to relax the baby and mom. If
the baby does not latch in the tub we can usually get latched when they come
out.
It is a nice "rebirthing" experience if the birth was frustrating and not
what one expected. Some moms have cried when they see how calm the baby is
and how well they will latch when not so tense. The baby tends not to clamp
down as much after this relaxing experience.
I do have some that are not sure about the umbilical cord area getting wet
before it falls off. Isn't clear water O.K.? Is this a medical problem?
Thanks,
Annette Leibovitz
