Dear Barb and Lactnetters

I have not shared this with anyone before. The second day of my
daughter's life I fed another baby (given to me by mistake) and I didn't
know until the nurse came and gave me the *right* baby. I noticed that
the suck was different, but thought this was just her progressing to
being more proficient/hungry. I had nursed her for a long time on the
delivery table before her bath. I was not allowed to nurse her the
previous night - "you don't really have any milk yet". I was more upset
with myself for failing to realise that I was nursing a baby not my own
than I was with the staff.
Just one of many reasons why I believe so passionately that mothers and
babies belong together!
