Dear lactnetters
 First an update on the mother with invasive cancer of the breast. The
cancer does not appear to have spread  anywhere else so her prognosis is
better than first thought.  She has completed 3 courses of chemotherapy and
is very positive.
 Question 1.  What is the possibility of a mother who had  leukaemia being
able to induce lactation with her newly adopted baby?
She had chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant about 4 years ago and is
now well. She was unable to get pregnant so has now adopted a baby. Is it
worth her while trying to get a milk supply going? With the treatment she
has undergone would this just be wishful thinking.
Question 2. I have looked in the archives but what is a good regime for a
mother with severe exzema of the nipples (and elsewhere) She persevered with
her first baby and survived 7 weeks of breastfeeding before the pain got too
much for her. She realizes the importance of breastfeeding and really wants
to work on it. Mild cortisone creams do not help.
