Well, a big thanks to all the helpful Lactnetters (I deleted
happy99worm and I couldn't have done it without your help!) I really hope
nobody's system got infected because of me. I've loaded my virus checker
and I'm hoping this note goes in without problems.
Obviously, I couldn't post to the list again with my system acting up,
and I was so pleased that immediately folks jumped on to warn others. When
you think of all the good people on this list, you know that there is hope
for the world.
Thanks again!! >>
Please will someone on this List clear this up. I did not get any warnings
about this until after I had already opened Lactnet and scanned down the
entire digest to the nonsense letters at the end. I did not see any
fireworks. I do not have any Virusdetector programs installed, and I am going
to be really angry if I have to run out and get one because of this. I was
under the impression that only attachments that are opened separately can do
this kind of damage. Even if I do run out right now, what happens to my PC
while it don't eyet have it? What about Instant Messages- do they transmit
this worm, too? Trying to catch up on Lactnets from over the weekend, as well
as other mail I have sent out at least 15 emails this am. It sounds like I
have to now email everyone and tell them not to open anything? It might be
too late for some of them anyway. Someone suggested downloading VirusScan,
but I have no idea how to do this. Im quite lost here.
