Sad, but they don't even realize what they are doing. I met with some of the
AB staff some years ago to edit some stuff, and even write a piece for them,
and the fact is they just don't see the words and their power. They were not
adverse to my changes or suggestions, but they were incapable of seeing the
impact some of the article's phrasing and advertising placement has unless it
was pointed out to them. Please write them, and keep writing them. They need
educated people continuing to point out what they cannot yet see. Many women
read their magazines, and the fact that they printed some absolutely awful
breastfeeding information, years later, and I severed my ties with them, in
a letter to the editor they actually printed, still has not changed
anything,( except that I am still without a writing job). They need many
people to send them letters, as individuals, or nothing will ever change.
Sad, but true.
