I am counseling a woman with a Special Care Infant, who is pumping. I
watched her pumping yesterday and was concerned to note white, blanched
appearing, 2.5 cm diameter areas above her nipples. One appeared on the
left at 10 o'clock and the right at two o'clock. She said they disappeared
after pumping. They are soft and look ruggaed like the skin on the nipple
when stimulated. When resting the area looks like the rest of the breast
tissue. It does not look or palpate like a blister. The breast is not
engorged. She is an obese woman, 3 days postpartum who has been running a
low grade fever and sweating. In labor she presented with drying cold sores
at the corner of her mouth which have since disappeared. She has not been
diagnosed as a diabetic, or other medical problems. I'm hoping to ask for a
photo today.

No matter how many years you observe breasts , you're bound to see a
different one!
