Carmen,

I had a mom like yours in my moms support group for a long time. She insisted
that she would not BF more than 3 months. Any efforts to convince her
otherwise just made her more adamant to stop at 3 mos.

I managed every meeting to bring up 'just one more' documented danger of
formula feeding that I "Just came across this and thought you all might be
interested to learn" or I would find one more benefit of Breastfeeding or
Breastmilk that we hadn't discussed before.

The mom in question started with a goal of 4 mos, then 6 mos and ended up
continuing to BF until the baby was 18 mos old. I was very proud of her for
"sticking with it" so to speak. Maybe the mom you wrote of would respond to
this same type of education/inducement to continue bf. I know its hard to
see someone you have developed a rapport with choose something other than
you would like, I hope this works out for everyone concerned

Best wishes,

Cheryl L Tompkins CLC
