Dear Karen,
I am a physician assistant, who is currently breastfeeding my own In Vitro
miracle. I have posed a similar question, so you might want to look on the
archives...(IVF and breastfeeding). Kathy Auerbach stated that after 6 or so
months pprolactin is no longer secreted with BFing and Dr. Newman assured me
that the drugs given will in no way harm the nursling. My daughter is 2 and
we are just now thinking of trying again. I will not tell the specialist
that I am breastfeeding as he already told me I had to wean first, but my
opinion is that he doesn't have all the info he needs to make the proper
decision. I have researched this to death and if she can wait 6 months to a
year to try to conceive, then she should BF!
I'd be interested in any other replies that you may get if you would kindly
forward them to me and feel free to contact me anytime. I'd be willing to
talk with you patient as well.
Good Luck!
Jennifer Winkleman, PA-C
