Let me add to the list of breastfeeding definitions in other languages.
According to my Malay clients, the breasts is "buah dadah" which means
literally, the fruit of blood. To breast feed is to kaseh susu ibu which
means to give breastmilk. Breastfeed is to suck or suckle. In Chinese,
breastfeed is "wei nei" which means to give breastmilk. Breastmilk means
"ren nei" which means human milk. A more refined way of referring to
breastfeeding is "pu lou" which means nourishing with breastmilk. So far,
this discussion has been educational. Doris Fok, IBCLC in private practice
