A baby with a chylothorax should not receive breastmilk. Why not give the
portagen by any alternative feeding method appropriate to the age and
development of the infant? Avoid the "long term" message bottles imply. We
do "dry" breastfeeding with premies all the time. If mom pumps her usual
amount right before feeding the portagen with an SNS, the baby will get very
little BM, and still help maintain mom's milk supply and his/her own BF
suck/swallow pattern.
