To everyone who knows Jeanine or who remembers her from years past, I am
beseeching you to send her a message of good cheer.

For those unsure why the name is familiar, Jeanine has been a leader in the
lactation community for many years. She was the first ILCA president to
serve a two-year term and highlighted her last year by becoming pregnant
with her younger daughter (Killian) after many years of infertility.

This evening I received a call from her elder daughter (senior in High
School), one of the fraternal twins. Jeanine is currently in the hospital,
having contracted Guillian-Barre syndrome. She is out of intensive care,
but is currently paralyzed from the waist down. Some effects above the
waist are also apparent. Examples: she speaks as if half her mouth was
numbed with novocaine (as in a dental procedure). She cannot type, as she
feels pins and needles in her fingers. But she can now focus sufficiently
well to see and to read and would LOVE to hear from people.

She is interested in learning as much as she can about the syndrome (so if
any of you have news you want ME to pass on to her, please get back to me
privately). If you wish to send messages to Jeanine, please make them be
upbeat. She NEEDS positive words, lots of cyberhugs, and the knowledge
that we are thinking about her. If you are part of a prayer chain, put her
on it, please.

Her kids will print off the messages and take them to the hospital for
Jeanine to read.

And if any of you are part of a milk bank, would you please get back to
me--again--PRIVATELY. Many many thanks in advance for anything you can do
to help Jeanine know that her LACTNET friends surround her with love and
caring concern.
