Pearl Shifer asks about methadone dosage and monitoring a nursing baby whose
mother is on methadone maintenance.  You could try calling NAPARE for
information.  They are a parenting program in Chicago for women with addiction
problems.  1-800-638-BABY.  NAPARE's material sets 40 mg a day as a safe
level.  Since this is double the Hale and AAP level, you might like to talk to
them and find out their rationale and recommendations for follow-up.
