The mom has been moved to John's Hopkins.  Baby L is still in the original
NICU, weaning off the ventilator.  She had one formula feed through a tube
but now is npo.  She has been held once by her dad.  The mom is responding
moderately to the medication, but they are positioning her  at Hopkins just
in case.  She is now teary that she has never held or seen this baby.
(General anesthesia cesarean)

I keep offering information and support, but my brother is so focused on the
first concern - to stabilize his wife.  I sent via email and fax info on
hormonal grieving (thank you Kathy), PPD, and the normal depression likely
after abdominal surgery.

Breastfeeding has taken a back seat in this situation until mom is stable.
I hope that WHEN she is, we can persevere.  I have discussed Kangaroo care
with the NICU and they are open to it.  I may fly to DC and do it myself if
my brother needs (understandably) to be many miles away with his wife and
wants me to do it.

Please keep the information coming in to me if you have it.  It has given me
alot of strength and relieved the sense of being a lone voice in the
interests of breastfeeding and TLC for this baby.
