For some reason, JACHO looking for this kind of information, demanding this
kind orf documentation, sounds like a step forward in our struggle towards
normative infant feeding. I like the sound of this, and what it illustrates
to the staff who hand out AIM without a second thought. This kind of vigilance
about artificial feeds, IMO, underscores the nature of AIM as something
NEEDING careful monitoring because its use is not simple, or needing no
thought, and has so many risks associated with it, that we need to keep track
of it, for the future safety of all those whose children consume it. Anything
that requires people who hand out AIM or encourage its use, either overtly, or
even simply by failing to encourage breastfeeding, to really document what
they are doing, seems like a good thing...Perhaps, as was said before,
someday AIM will be a controlled substance needing a signed consent form to
purchase.
