Prof. Alan Walker describes this episode at some length in the first
volume of his excellent three-volume biography of Lizst, "Franz Liszt:
The Virtuoso Years, 1811-1847" (Cornell University Press, Revised Edition,
1988). You should be able to order it through Amazon.com. [And I'll butt
in here with a reminder. All three volumes are listed in the Books section
(in Biographies) of Classical Net with direct links for purchase from
Amazon. -Dave]
