In the area of the U.K. in which I work all health professionals,
including doctors, are sent a booklet called Feeding Guidelines for
Under Fives. This was written by a multi-disciplinary team, and for
diarrhoea and vomiting recommends rehydration therapy for artificially
fed babies and continued breastfeeding for those babies lucky enough to
be having breastmilk. We seldom see breastfed babies admitted to
hospital with stomach flu, see many more who are artificially fed.
