I am sure someone will point you in the direction of some useful literature.
I can offer a practical suggestion:  Have mom make and send only many one or
two ounce bottles -- I got that size from the hospital (compliments of an
abm company, but filled with sterile water I was told to just dump out) -
and that way little or none should go to waste while she works on convincing
the day care provider that throwing it out is unnecessary.
