i would like to agree and disagree with johanna - yes, it is out of the scope
of even the LC to help this woman deal with her problems, but it is certainly
in what i consider my scope of practice to try to help this woman get to the
point of being able to move on to the "correct" professional to help her
(psychiatrist, counselor, etc.). so much of what we do is about psychology
anyway. if she is receptive. and the advice to keep the information "in
reality" by giving correct information about the disease or lack of disease,
is a good step in the right direction. what a sad story.
