I can't find this drug in our drug list and so may not be available in
Canada. By the name, it actually sounds as if it could be related to the
benzodiazepines (diazepam,), but maybe not. If it is, it is of some concern
in the first month or so because newborns metabolize it very slowly and even
if little gets into the milk, it might just accumulate. Nevertheless we use
this class of drugs in newborns, even very premature babies.
If it is truly similar to fluoxetine (Prozac), then why not try something we
know something about and know it should be safe, like sertraline (Zoloft)
and paroxetine (Paxil). Why always the hottest, newest most expensive drug?
